He Was Found Blind and Alone — Now 1,500 Lives Need Your Help

He Was Found Blind and Alone. Today, He’s Alive Because Someone Cared.
In August 2023, a small dog was found wandering the streets of Hanoi — alone, frightened, and suffering.
One of his eyes was severely damaged.
It was swollen, protruding, and beyond saving.
He could barely see.
He had no one.
An elderly woman found him and brought him home. She did what she could to care for him, but she had no money for veterinary treatment. Knowing he wouldn’t survive without help, she asked local students to find someone who could save him.
That call for help reached San Nha Nhieu Cho Rescue (SNNC).
On August 15, 2023, the rescue team arrived and brought the dog to safety.
They named him Lu.
A Fight to Survive
When Lu arrived at the shelter, his condition was critical.
His right eye had to be surgically removed.
It was a painful journey — but Lu kept fighting.
With proper medical care and the dedication of the rescue team, his wounds slowly healed.
Today, Lu Is Safe
Today, Lu is healthy, gentle, and incredibly affectionate.
He loves being around people.
He seeks comfort, connection, and love — something he almost never had before.
Lu’s story could have ended in suffering.
Instead, it became a story of survival.
But Lu Is Not Alone
Lu’s story is not unique.
There are hundreds more just like him.
A Rescue That Never Stops
San Nha Nhieu Cho (SNNC) is one of the largest animal rescue shelters in Northern Vietnam.
Founded in 2021 by Tran Minh Quang, SNNC has rescued nearly 2,000 dogs and cats from abandonment, abuse, and the dog meat trade.
Today, the shelter is caring for over 1,500 animals:
- around 1,300 dogs
- over 200 cats
Many arrived injured, sick, or close to death.
And still, SNNC continues to take them in — because for many of these animals, there is nowhere else to go.
A Shelter at Its Limit
Right now, the shelter is over capacity.
Food is running low.
Medical needs are increasing.
Resources are stretched thin.
To care for over 1,500 animals, SNNC needs more than $60,000 every month — even at the most basic level.
And the need is urgent, especially in the coming weeks.
Real Lives, Real Impact
Every animal here has a story:
- Nho, abandoned by his owner, is now safe and thriving
- Thor, rescued from a slaughterhouse, has fully recovered
- Angel, nearly blind, has survived against all odds and continues to live peacefully
These stories are possible because someone chose to help.
